Honor, a sub-brand of Huawei has launched its first 5G series; Honor Play 4 Series. The company today officially unveiled its new gaming series. The series is the successor of Honor Play, launched in 2018.
The series got hype when a video was released showing a device measuring the temperature of the human body.
The series packs two models; Honor Play 4 and Honor Play 4 Pro.
Honor Play 4:
Honor Play 4 comes with a 6.81-inch FHD+ display (2400 x 1080 resolution). The device is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 800 5G processor along with NSA/SA dual-mode 5G support.
Honor Play 4 features a quad-camera setup comprising a 64 MP (main camera, f/1.7 aperture) + 8 MP (ultra wide angle lens, f/2.2 aperture) + 2 MP (depth sensor, f/2.4 aperture) + 2 MP (macro lens, f/2.4 aperture).
Honor Play 4 packs a 4300mAh battery with 22.5W charging support. runs the latest Magic UI 3.1 (Android 10).
The device runs on Magic UI 3.1 on top of Android 10.
As a gaming smartphone, the phone contains a Vapour Cooling system to keep the phone cool for long game time.
The phone has the dimensions of 170×78.5×8.9(mm) and weighs 213g. The device comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a 3.5mm audio jack.
Honor Play 4 Pro:
The pro version of Honor Play 4, Honor Play 4 Pro comes with a 6.57-inch Full HD display. The display has a pill type cutout that frames dual front cameras.
The front camera set up consists of a 32MP selfie camera and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera.
The Honor Play 4 Pro comes with a dual rear camera setup. 40MP (f/1.8 aperture) main camera with IMX600 sensor and RYYB color mapping takes brighter images in low light conditions. Similarly, the 8MP telephoto camera lets the user capture at 3X optical zoom along with optical image stabilization (OIS).
Honor Play 4 Pro is powered by Kirin 990 processor clocked at 2.86Ghz. Similarly, the device packs Mali-G76GPU and Da Vinci NPU for enhancing AI capabilities. The UFS 3.0 storage in the device lets users for faster file transfers. The device has dual 5G support.
4200mAh battery comes under the hood with 40W Huawei SuperCharge for faster device charging.
The phone measures at 162.7mm x 75.8mm x 8.9mm and weighs at 213g. A side-mounted fingerprint scanner is placed for device security.
Honor Play 4 Pro Infrared Camera Version:
Honor has released two versions of Honor Play 4 Pro. The infrared camera version comes with an extra infrared camera at the bottom of the camera module letting users measure the temperature of both living and nonliving bodies. A video showing device measuring human body temperature was gone viral on social media.
We’d seen infrared cameras that were capable to capture thermal image and record videos too, but this is different than those. This can show the temperature on the device screen taking it near to the body or object.
The temperature measuring feature may help people in the COVID-19 pandemic as the high temperature is one of the symptoms of coronavirus.

Pre-order of Honor Play 4 and Play 4 Pro has now started (June 3). The Honor Play 4 Pro will be sold from June 9, while Honor Play 4 will make its first sale only on June 12.
