Recently, the company launched Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, high-end flagship devices bundled in Galaxy Note 20 series.
Note series and S series are the top-tier products (leaving fold devices) manufactured by Samsung. That’s why Samsung wants to make sure the devices contain each and every top spec. The device contains all the top-tier specs available in the market with some new introduction (except folding glass) making it the strong contestant from Samsung in the best smartphone’s battle.
Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Overview:
As I said above, Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is the device where Samsung has put all the technology it can other than folding glass. This device contains latest flagship processor from Qualcomm, 4500mAH battery, 12GB RAM, 108MP camera, improved stylus and many such impressive specs.
Design and Display:
The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is a huge device with a height of 164.8mm, a width of 77.2 mm, and a thickness of 8.1mm. Talking about the display, Note 20 Ultra comes with a 6.9-inch curved Dynamic AMOLED display with a resolution of 3088×1440. The brightness on Note 20 Ultra reaches up to 1500 nits.
120Hz Adaptive Refresh Rate:
And guess what, the display has a high refresh rate of 120Hz. You might now be worried about the battery consumption of such a high refresh rate, aren’t you? Well, you don’t need to worry that much as the refresh rate is auto-adjusted based on the apps, performance as Samsung has introduced Adaptive Refresh Rate feature. If you’re using an app that only refreshes 30 times a second, the display’s refresh rate will also be adjusted at 30Hz thus saving power. This adjust will be made from 1Hz to all the way up to 120Hz.
Gorilla Glass 7:
With this device, Corning Gorilla Glass 7 has been introduced. The device consist Gorilla Glass 7 on front and rear of the phone. It is claimed that Gorilla Glass 7 is 1.2 times drop resistance and 2 times scratch resistance than its predecessor.
Performance:
Since Note 20 Ultra is the device to show everything Samsung can include, the device comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ processor with X55 modem for 5G. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ thing will only be available in North America and few Asian countries like China and South Korea. The rest will have to get a phone with Exynos 990 (including Nepal). The processor is paired with up to 12GB of RAM. There are two storage variants (UFS 3.1) of 128GB and 512GB. If you need more storage, you can even add a microSD card of up to 1TB.
Camera:
The rectangular camera module on the back of Galaxy Note 20 Ultra consists of a primary camera of 108MP with f/1.8 which is capable of recording 8K videos. Then comes a 12MP telephoto lens which has an optical zoom capacity of 5X. However, the digital zoom goes up to 50 times. The 12MP ultra-wide camera with 120-degree field-of-view (FOV) is also located to include more scenery in your shots. This time, Samsung has included Laser auto-focus in place of depth sensor for faster auto-focusing. The camera bump is huge as the device is just 8.1mm in thickness. However, such a camera module is prone to screen damage. There’s a 10MP front-facing camera.
Battery:
A 4500mAh battery sits under the hood of Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The battery supports charging 25W, wireless charging, and also reverse wireless charging. It can be charged with USB type C cable or wirelessly.
Software:
On the software front, Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra comes with OneUI 2.5 which is placed on top of Android 10. One UI 2.5 is lighter and smoother than One UI 2.0.
S-Pen Improvements:
The S-pen latency on the Note 20 Ultra is reduced to 9ms from around 42ms to give a life-like precision. The S-pen has also got a few more gestures for scrolling, opening apps, and system navigation.
Ultra Wide Band (UWB):
Samsung has introduced the Ultra Wide Band (UWB) chip in the Note 20 Ultra. The UWB can be used to communicate with nearby devices in the same radio. It might be used for many other uses in the future, but for now, it can be used to send files to another device by flicking towards the device which it is facing to using Google’s Nearby Share feature.
More Microsoft:
We know about the partnership of Samsung with Microsoft. Samsung device ship with the Microsoft Office apps. This time, the partnerships have grown even much. Samsung Notes will sync to Microsoft’s OneNote later this year. Note 20 series will be more compatible with the ‘Your Phone’ feature in Windows. Using this feature, users can easily sync their devices in the windows and copy pictures, run apps, and even make calls and send messages. As per Samsung, users will be able to run multiple apps on the Windows desktop later this year.
Samsung’s Note 20 series will be compatible with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Microsoft will let Note 20 series users stream hundreds of games for free for three months in xCloud, Microsoft’s game streaming service. Not only this, but Samsung’s Dex service is also now completely wireless.
Others:
Now, let’s talk about IP certification, sensors and others. The device is IP68 water resistance certified. As far as the sensors are concerned, the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra comes with Ultrasonic fingerprint, NFC, MST, Bluetooth 5.0 and 5G Sub6/mmWave. As you might’ve guessed, there’s no headphone jack on the device.
