Redmi K20 Pro (Mi 9T Pro) is also known as an “affordable flagship” smartphone. “Affordable Flagship’’ describes those smartphones that look and feel like a flagship but cost way less than a classic flagship.

This device is believed to be the successor of Pocophone F1 of last year. Pocophone F1 was loved and was one of the most successful phones in the market due to its flagship sensor; Snapdragon 845 of that time. This device too has tones of features that resembles it to be the next flagship killer, namely ‘Flagship Killer 2.0’

Design:

The Redmi K20 Pro comes in an all-glass finish with three colors option i.e. Flame Red, Glacier Blue and Carbon Black. Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both front and back helps in the adequate protection of the device. The glass and metal sandwich of the Redmi K20 Pro feels luxurious in hand. At the back, Xiaomi has included a pattern design which get changed depending on the angle of the light. This makes the device look premium and stylish. Despite being a big smartphone with a 6.39-inch display, it is easy and compact to hold on your hand. The in-display fingerprint scanner is located at a  convenient bottom area of the phone. With the recent trend in pop-up selfie cameras, Redmi K20 Pro is the first Redmi device to support a pop-up selfie camera.

The device comes with a USB Type-C and a 3.5mm headphone jack  at the bottom. It is a dual SIM smartphone and doesn’t support microSD card.

Display:

Redmi K20 Pro is the first Redmi phone which offers a AMOLED panel. It offers a display of 6.39 inches. This phone seems delight to use for watching movies and playing games. The full screen-display without any notch or bezels makes this phone look better. Outdoor visibility is very good while you will not be facing any difficulties while reading texts under direct sunlight. The colors are crisp with a good contrast ratio. The Redmi K20 Pro too comes with robust customization option for the display. Default configuration adjusts contrast on the fly and does good job of it. It is also possible to switch between warmer and cooler pictures profile. The device also has anti-flicker mode which will eventually help protect your eyes.

The aspect ratio of 19.5:9 defines the style of the display. A Corning Gorilla Glass protects the panel against scratches. This is among the best smartphone with best display under good price range.

Camera:

As for the camera, it is the first Redmi series device to offer multiple focal lengths. It has triple rear setup. Main lens is of 48MP, secondary sensor is of 13MP and depth-sensing lens of 8MP. It is provided with different features like AF Phase Detection, Bokeh Effect, Auto flash, Continuous Shooting, Face Detection, Geo-Tagging, High Dynamic Range (HDR) mode, ISO Control, Laser AF and more.

At the front, it provides a pop-up selfie camera of 20 MP lens which helps you to capture bright, elegant and good-looking pictures.

Daylight shots from the Redmi K20 Pro are rather good. The camera app let you switch over to an AI mode that uses on-board machine learning algorithms to tweak images. I would say the the images captured are good but could be better with better image processing.

Performance:

The phone has an octa-core Kryo 485 Processor setup with a QualComm Snapdragon 855 chipset which helps to deliver a powerful performance. The device coming with Adreno 640 GPU, the Redmi K20 Pro is one of the most powerful smartphones in this price. The phone offers an immersive experience which can handle most tasks with ease. It also offers Game Turbo 2.0 that allocates resources for gaming. It has a smart switch from Wi-Fi to 4G.

In fact, in terms of performance there is nothing extra that the OnePlus 7 Pro, Samsung Galaxy 10+ or other Android flagship smartphones offer. However, there may be difference in experience due to the custom UI.

Battery:

Redmi K20 Pro is packed by a 4,000 mAh battery with support for 27W fast charging. But the fast charging i.e. 27W is not included inside the box. You have to buy it in separate which costs around $15. With the included 18W charger, you can have your phone fully charged in about 88 minutes. As far as the battery life is concerned, the device easily lasts for a day. But if you are not much in gaming, it will easily hold for over 30 hours.

Conclusion:

So, what do I think about Redmi K20 Pro? Well, after a month of its use, I can undoubtedly say, “It performs more than its price”. In my opinion, this is the best smartphone a person can buy these day. It contains almost same features as of One Plus 7 Pro which is priced much higher than it. It offers everything you would need in a flagship at a very competitive price.

If you want the beast device in best budget, go for it.
